Job Description

Alpine is seeking a Manufacturing and Operations Intern to join our team.  In this role, you will develop and document maintenance management processes and drive production equipment performance efforts in collaboration with maintenance and production resources. Document machine operating processes and provide ad-hoc project teams on manufacturing projects

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and recommend measurable maintenance process improvements and cost reduction opportunities including, maintenance work order tracking/root cause analysis, preventative maintenance, equipment documentation and MRO management
  • Collect and analyze production equipment performance data from production to identify improvement opportunities and improve our overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) metric in conjunction with maintenance and production department resources
  • Develop, document and maintain process plans and machine operating instructions
  • Other duties as required

Expected Learnings:

  • Real-life exposure to a high-volume manufacturing operation in terms of maintenance function and process documentation
  • improved press uptime performance and/or root cause knowledge
  • Improved maintenance management and MRO replenishment processes
  • More informed basis on true maintenance costs, unplanned downtime impact
  • Improved process documentation and equipment archives

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards a Bachelor Degree in manufacturing operations, industrial, mechanical or electrical discipline or equivalent
  • Strong desire to solve problems and overcome challenges related to process development, production equipment, maintenance and project management
  • Working knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance practices/principles.
  • Experience/knowledge in TPM, lean management, Six Sigma or equivalent. Continuous improvement program experience strongly desired
  • Knowledge and application of design, engineering and technology, computers and electronics, technology design, and problem solving

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, within typical manufacturing plant working conditions.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, climate variances and moving mechanical equipment typically found in a manufacturing environment.  The noise level in the work environment (office) is usually low, but much higher when exposed to the manufacturing areas.  Certain personal protective equipment is required when in the manufacturing areas.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms and regularly required to walk.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
