Job Description

M&C SPECIALTIES, an Illinois Tool Works (ITW) company, located in Southampton, PA, is seeking an energetic and skilled MACHINE OPERATOR to join our team. Shift hours are 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. We're interested in candidates with a focus on safety, quality and exceeding customers' expectations.

Machine Operators are responsible for setting up and operating machines to die cut, slit, laminate and or print parts of a specified size or shape from various pressure sensitive and non-pressure sensitive materials.

Essential Duties include:

  •         Following instructions of operations on work order for set up and operations of job
  •         Verifying materials are correct and quantity of materials is adequate to complete job as specified on work order
  •         Inserting tooling, if required, into die area and locking into place
  •         Positioning material on machine to ensure proper alignment with tooling
  •         Adjusting tension on machine prior to running job and continuing to fine tune tension as needed throughout running of job
  •         Requesting Q.C. inspection of initial setup prior to running the job, conducting hourly quality checks during run, submitting final piece inspection approval prior to shipment to ensure quality standards are met to customer expectations and notifying supervisor immediately in event of non-conformance
  •         Measuring parts with calibrated ruler or caliper periodically to ensure correct dimensions of part
  •         Stripping waste material and checking depth of cut throughout job run
  •         Removing parts and stacking according to size and shape or packing into box to be shipped
  •         Scanning in work order on computer prior to starting job, scanning out at end of shift and entering daily production numbers along with notes identifying any issues encountered during run
  •         Completing appropriate documentation after running each job

Job Requirements

Required skills and experience:

  • Ability to adhere to M&C’s quality standards and current good manufacturing practices
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions on work order for set up and operation of job
  •        Mechanically inclined
  • Good basic math skills
  • Ability to correctly use and read measurement devices (standard and metric rulers, calipers, tape measure, etc.
  •        Appropriate interpersonal skills to allow for courteous and effective interaction with subordinates, co-workers and management.
  • Ability to meet production deadlines and achieve results
  • Willingness and ability to be trained and train others on various machines and work activities
  • Ability to handle and work with magnetic dies
