Job Description

Texwipe, an Illinois Tool Works Company, is a global leader in contamination control serving Life Science, Microelectronics and Industrial markets. We are currently looking for an experienced IT System Administrator.


  • Responsible for day-to-day tasks for the IT department including tracking progress through completion.  Monitors systems performance, configuration, maintenance and repair.
  • Ensures that records of service tickets and equipment inventory are properly maintained.
  • Work with third party data center/IT support and other vendors/contractors to address issues and support IT related activities.
  • Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Train technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
  • Guides and provides work direction to technical staff as determined by IT Management.
  • Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
  • Establishes, maintains and manages user admin accounts and all other relevant accounts. Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
  • Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components.
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical host computer resources.
  • Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
  • Develops tools, procedures, and training sessions pertaining to IT as necessary to assist other departments with their work.
  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for IT to take advantage of new technology.
  • Responsible for Network Security
  • Secures systems by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.

  • Ensure compliance of software licensing.

  • Assure all backups are ran at defined intervals.

  • Provide Technical (Help Desk) support to local and remote users on approved hardware, software and peripherals in person, by phone or other form of communication as required.

  • Accurately communicate understandable technical support to users by phone or in person, coordinate and manage outside vendors as required. Track and report the status and solution of request and issues.

  • Provide technical support to all Texwipe sites as needed.

  • Maintain system hardware, operating systems and applications by conferring vendors and users (when applicable); developing, testing, evaluating, and installing upgrades, updates and patches as required.

  • Provide support to sustain all e-commerce systems as directed.

  • Install, configure, maintain and support telecommunication systems including phone system, video conferencing, conferencing calling and cell phones.

  • Maintains system performance through monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; escalating application problems to vendor.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technical School Degree with demonstrated experience in IT support and team leadership.
  • Minimum of three years work experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
