IT/ Software Specialist – Food Machines

Hobart is part of the ITW Food Equipment Group, an Illinois Tool Works Fortune 200 business, and is a recognized leader among commercial food equipment worldwide. Hobart Food Machines is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our IT department.

In this position, you will serve in a dual role supporting IT infrastructure and product line software engineering requirements. You will be responsible for the maintenance of installed infrastructure technologies as well as the installation and configuration of these technologies within specific area. And assists in design and functional specifications, produces deliverables related to specific projects and assists in post implementation support and system enhancements. You will play an integral role in more complex system integration testing and evaluation within software as an area of responsibility.

You will apply software design theories and principles to perform design and development for new and existing products and modify existing software packages to fit customer needs and configurations. You will carry out validation of successive versions of software to integrate with total system hardware and assist with design, coding, testing, debugging and implementation and documentation of programs.


 Develop, maintain and select data backup and disaster recovery plan, security infrastructure, business systems, communication infrastructure and electronic communication platforms while following audit requirements.

 Provide technical assistance and support business systems and end users as necessary

 Manage distribution of software for server and end user computing devices, insuring licensing compliance

 Specialize in software and support the product line in software integration into products or other computer/software engineering needs as it pertains to the product line

 Supports business-specific needs and requests and builds needed programs for business functions

Job Requirements


  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field

·        1-2 years Software Programming experience in C, C++, Python, or similar languages

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments, including virtualization and monitoring

·        Knowledge of IP network infrastructures, trouble shooting and monitoring

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory security environment

·        Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server environments

·        Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery best practices

·        Knowledge of software distribution best practices

·        Knowledge of software programming

·        Strong problem-solving skills

Other Requirements / Working Conditions

  You will work in a team-oriented office and manufacturing environment.

  Willingness to travel 20-30% (primarily between business locations)

  Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
