Job Description


Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist

Division: Engine Repair

Basic Function: Accurately and efficiently oversee the distribution inventory and maintain it proficiently. Maintain a high level of integrity in the JD Edwards system concerning inventory.

  • Review Barcode inventory discrepancy report - verify, cycle and transact inventory adjustments as needed.
  • Review dock report - verify, cycle and transact inventory adjustments as needed.
  • Review negative balance report - cycle and transact inventory adjustments as needed.
  • Review lot status hold report – verify backup paperwork for all stock on hold, NCR’s, expiration report and purchasing/customer service request for product hold.
  • Review expired report for scrap – move to quarantine area or extend lot expiration date per Quality Manager’s request.
  • Allocate material to move tickets received from purchasing for shipment to outside vendors locations, transact item transfers as needed.
  • Allocate material to Departmental Expense Forms and transact.
  • Designate material to be returned to vendors on Debit Memos and transact as needed.
  • Issue material to Work Orders on the kit line and input product receipts for work orders on kit line.
  • Rework material from pick line damage, NCRs dispositional as rework and key customer’s requests for special labeling.
  • Work with returns department by assisting with rework and return transactions.
  • Work with distribution associates to identify out of stock issues and communicate them; work with purchasing to identify next shipment arrival date and communicate with receiving and high lift personnel to ensure product is received and put away in a timely manner.
  • Data entry duties during physical inventory.
  • Promotes and follows all safety guidelines and procedures.


  • Highschool Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years data entry experience preferable in a distribution environment utilizing the JD Edwards system.
  • Understanding of inventory control/distribution processes a plus.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and organized to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical and data skills needed.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications, general word processing, and MS Outlook capability.
  • Familiarity with production applications and process required.
