This position is within ITW’s Zip-Pak division.  Zip-Pak is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry.  Our expertise in zipper, application technology, and packaging systems makes Zip-Pak the primary choice of brand owners, OEM’s, and converters for innovative resealable solutions.  Zip-Pak’s lean, modern, and continuous manufacturing environments produce zippers using high-volume plastic extrusion.  Manufacturing sites are in the United States, Europe, and South America. 



The HR Generalist’s role is responsible for a variety of HR administrative duties and has responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for Zip-Pak North America business units. He/She will act as the primary liaison between business unit employees, payroll field contacts, and ITW Corporate Payroll. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of human resources as well as general administrative responsibilities. He/She will be able to work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the smooth running of HR projects and operations and be able to contribute to the attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization. 



  • HR Generalist support for plants in Manteno, IL and Atlanta, GA while also aiding the HR Manager with Ottawa, IL facility. Travel to the Atlanta and Ottawa facilities required.
  • Payroll Processing for the North American facilities and employees: Compile, edit, and balance business unit input - including hours, earnings, employee data, and manual adjustments - required for payroll processing
  • Assist business units with time reporting and manual adjustments to earnings, taxes, and deductions
  • Work closely with business units to ensure that payroll data is received in a timely manner and in the proper format
  • Assist with the non-exempt recruitment process including scheduling interviews, working with hiring managers to write job descriptions, posting, screening and interviewing candidates.
  • Support the exempt hiring recruitment process by assisting with interview schedules and interview guide generation.
  • Maintain records of personnel-related data (personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met.
  • Perform orientations, onboarding and update records with new hires.
  • Organize data for affirmative action plan generation.
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
  • Assist in distributing and collecting leave of absences documentation and notifications to track leave eligibility.
  • Respond to internal and external HR related enquiries or requests and provide assistance.
  • Liaise with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits etc.).
  • Assist supervisors in performance management procedures.
  • Support other functions as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification

  • BS/BA in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field

Knowledge & Experience

  • 2 - 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, processes and procedures
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to prepare reports, presentations, analyses using Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively handle pressure and challenges
  • The capability to take proactive steps in managing problems
