The Human Resources Generalist will provide HR support to the Construction Products Segment. Reporting directly to the Group HR Director, the HR Generalist will lead and manage ad hoc projects in the following functional areas: Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Safety Statistics, Employee Relations, Training and Development, Benefits, Wellness, Compensation, New Hire Orientation, Performance and Talent Management, Recruiting, etc.

This role, located in our Glenview Corporate office, represents an opportunity for an entry level HR professional looking for experience as a Generalist.  Ideal candidate will have previous experience interviewing/sourcing talent and a great ability with numbers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus is to perform ad hoc HR related projects, to support the Construction segment
  • Coordinates the D&I information and Organizational Charts for the Segment
  • Supports the ITW performance management cycle, advising and coaching in areas of goal setting, mid-year feedback activities, annual performance review and the compensation planning process. Applies ITW job banding system to ensure consistency of job grading.
  • Works with business leaders to support talent acquisition activities, as needed:  Supports talent upgrade efforts and advises on market compensation requirements.  Coordinates recruitment efforts from job scoping activity through to the offer phase. 
  • Organizes and conducts new hire orientation; creates a positive first impression of the company and serves as a role model for ITW values.
  • Inputs and maintains employee data in the HRIS. Prepares & analyzes regular and special reports using HRIS.
  • Prepares employee communication documents, as needed, including new hire, disability, benefit, separation notices and related documentation.  
  • Works with ITW corporate human resources or third-party providers, as necessary, in management of employee life cycle processes and transactions.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance. Support role in development of Affirmative Action Plans within the divisions.
  • Supports safety initiatives within the divisions to ensure zero accidents and responsible for Segment Safety records and statistics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field
  • 1-2 year of experience, manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong written/verbal communication & interpersonal skills
  • Independent and organized work style
  • High learning agility
  • Strong technical & analytical skills/aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word and Excel).  Experience with HRIS systems preferred (Workday, ADP, etc.).
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
