Human Resources Generalist

Position location: New Berlin, WI

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist will report to the NA HR Manager and will be responsible for the ITW Appliance New Berlin, Wisconsin manufacturing and office location as the main HR leader. The HR Generalist provides input to the design of talent management programs with a heavy emphasis on implementation including: compensation, recruitment, coaching, performance management, employee relations, promoting an engaged culture and learning & development. This person will actively participate as a member of the HR team to identify, recommend and develop and implement HR programs and practices that deliver required results in support of the overall Division goals. Liaises with other HR colleagues within the Division, Segment and Enterprise and manages special projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

●  Manages employee relations to ensure a consistent application of policy and practices, including coaching/counseling, employee investigations, progressive discipline and problem resolution.

●  Provides technical expertise and analytical support to ensure successful implementation and regular monitoring of Local, Division and Corporate HR programs and processes.

●  Works closely with management and team members to drive and sustain culture initiatives that focus on engaged employees, positive work environment, increased productivity and retention.

●  Works with functional management to support full cycle talent acquisition needs. This includes support with job descriptions, leveling of new roles, sourcing candidates, interviews and offers. Also manages third party recruitment activities and temporary staffing contracts and orientation.

●  Maintains ongoing, up-to-date knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations. Educates and informs managers and employees on current labor laws and business impact. Ensures compliance with local laws and regulations.

●  Maintains employee information, personnel records, and HR files. Processes employee data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).

●  Responsible for biweekly salary and hourly payroll.

●  Identifies common trends and issues related to individual development needs among employees and partners with NA HR Manager and line staff to develop and implement appropriate solutions.

●  Supports local safety initiatives with Safety and OSHA compliance and helps New Berlin on their journey to interdependency in safety.

●  Manages college internship program; is local champion to partner with hiring managers for recruitment on college campuses with ITW, promoting an engaging and positive experience during the internship and assisting in converting high performing talent into a full-time ITW position.

●  Manages leave of absence programs from issuance of applicable documentation to employee’s return to work eligibility. Manages Worker’s Compensation claims including risk management activities, claim handling, reporting, and third-party administrator communications.

●  Conduct timely, thorough and objective investigations into employee relations issues. Forward escalated issues to NA HR Manager. Authors discipline letters and ensure discipline process is followed per company guidelines.

●  Looks for continuous improvement opportunities of historical programs or simplifying HR processes using the ITW Toolbox.

●  Facilitates the performance management and compensation process for non-exempt and exempt employees in New Berlin.

●  Assists with Affirmative Action compliance and execution of outreach efforts.

●  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees based on trust and credibility.

●  Ensures positive company image.

Job Requirements

●  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and minimum 5 years work experience or equivalent work experience in HR Generalist role. HR Generalist work experiences within a manufacturing environment and applying labor laws is highly preferred.

●  Proven ability to understand HR related needs within the business, engage in proactive feedback and recommend solutions.

●  Excellent computer skills required with MS Office suite software and Outlook. Accurate data input and professional business communication.

●  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an effective and active listener and have effective interpersonal, persuasive, and analytical skills. Professional communication skills across diverse cultures and managerial levels.

●  Able to maintain composure under pressure and in dealing with emotional or confrontational circumstances.

●  Skilled in conducting presentation in an individual and group setting. Experience in organizing and conducting employee trainings a plus.

●  Able to work with little or no supervision.

●  Able to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, adapt to change and mange time accordingly where tight deadlines may be present.

●  Possess initiative and ability to anticipate and problem solve independently and collaboratively.

●  Able to use good judgement and discretion with confidential information.

●  Experience in attracting and retaining skilled labor in a manufacturing environment.
