It is an exciting time to join the Hobart HR team. We are seeking a Human Resources Manager with demonstrated experience for ensuring HR strategy aligns with business plans and strategic objectives for assigned functional groups. The HR Manager/Business Partner will play an integral role in creating a positive employee experience and will support the day to day operations related to all phases of the employee life cycle such as onboarding, employee development, performance management, talent reviews, compensation planning, and employee relations. Additionally, this role will also serve as the HR compliance leader for all of US Service ensuring that employment practices are compliant with advancing state and federal regulation requirements.

Core Responsibilities
  • Implement Human Resource direction and functional goals directly linked to the business objectives
  • Partner with assigned work groups to ensure the effective and timely execution of all HR processes and programs; including but not limited to: talent reviews, performance management and counseling, compensation planning, employee relations, etc.
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers to assist in the recruiting process; interview and influence hiring decisions
  • Assist with design, coordination, and implementation of employee and/or manager training; could include: orientation and onboarding, ongoing leadership training, etc.
  • Consult with business leadership on organizational design to enable the business to grow and operate effectively including evaluation work structure job design and role / responsibility clarity
  • Lead US Service compliance; proactively maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions; project lead changes/updates to ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant
  • Review existing policies and procedures; initiate changes to ensure compliance with law, corporate policies, and business objectives
  • Partner with ITW corporate HR team to update and communicate changes to benefits and other employment offerings that affect our employee population and could have compliance implications
  • Performs other duties and completes special projects as assigned
Preferred Skills and Experiences
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience considered
  • Demonstrated years of experience with increasing responsibility in human resources including knowledge of employee relations, and legal compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience supporting upper level management with complex problems
  • Strong written/verbal and nonverbal communication skills; demonstrates good listening skills
  • Possess a positive and friendly attitude in working with all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated project management skills; able to communicate status updates with colleagues, keep team members informed, and respond clearly to inquiries
  • Strong interpersonal skills, role model for ITW values and Leadership Expectations and Hobart Service Mission and Vision
  • Independent and organized work style:  Effectively manage time and prioritize work load, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Possesses a strong drive for results and translates strategic direction into concrete action steps
  • Strong analytic skills, ability to research data and present findings in an organized fashion, and ability to make recommendations on course of action
  • Strong technical skills / aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, and Excel). 
  • Ability to adapt to all situations; handle change and conflict, remain calm and composed
  • Travel 20-30%
  • Experience in successfully defending labor law actions
  • Pre-employment screenings performed (which includes background checks and drug screening)
