Job Overview:

The Global Strategic Marketing Director will have responsibility for the development of both short term and long term strategic plans that determine “where to play, how to play and ensure execution” with the goal of meeting the division growth objectives through product differentiation, and achieving a sustainable competitive advantage.  The successful incumbent will have a proven track record of growing businesses and have demonstrated expertise in tactical and strategic marketing initiatives including but not limited to: market segmentation, competitive positioning, voice of customer (VOC), pricing and marketing communication

Key Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned

  • Develop and execute a long-term vision and organic growth-based strategy for the Division
  • Utilizing outside-in date and the unique ITW Business Model, determine the best approach to market segmentation
  • Define, structure and lead the execution of VOC initiatives to identify market needs and opportunities that will enable the division to achieve its growth targets
  • Lead Division initiatives to ensure consistent deployment and successful implementation of go-to-market programs
  • Assist the division in developing a go-to-market strategy that is aligned to the ITW growth framework
  • Act as a subject matter expert, coach, mentor, and develop talent and processes to increase marketing competence in Global Body Repair
  • Analyze industry trends, customer activity and product applications to determine sales and profit potential and understand opportunities resulting from changing conditions.
  • Develop, implement and oversee strategic pricing model for the division
  • Develop benchmark criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing programs
  • In partnership with the sales organization, develop metrics to measure overall customer satisfaction ( i.e. qualitative and quantitative)
  • Partner with other cross-functional teams to achieve division objectives. Create valuable business partnerships within the division and with external constituents
  • Develop training programs to inform and support distributors, sales force and end-users.
  • Manage marketing communication, external customer, end users and internal stakeholder communication
  • Manage marketing research and marketing communications budget

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or related field; MBA preferred
  • At least 10 years proven success (record of growth) in progressive Marketing roles with increasing complexity
  • At least 3 years managing a marketing and/or product development team
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)

  • Ability to drive short-term and long-term results

  • Able to provide strong leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project team through market assessment, customer needs, product creation that led to significant sales
  • Must have knowledge of pricing theory and previous experience developing strategic pricing models
  • Market growth/ expansion experience within the chemical industry in a business-to-business (B to B) environment preferred
  • A proven track record of increasing market share through organic growth and creating new opportunities
  • Experience with web design and/or working with agencies on effective website design
  • Proven application of analytical, planning, forecasting and budgeting /financial skills
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience developing effective marketing communications and sales training programs
  • The ability to manage multiple, complex priorities
  • Competitive Insights experience preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
