Job Description

The Global Sourcing Manager - Metals will be responsible for the management of the $130M global Metals/Steel spend and supply base within Construction Products. Reporting to the Construction Products Sourcing Group Director, the incumbent will be responsible for setting the segment steel sourcing strategy, managing global suppliers, and ensuring all productivity and sourcing metrics are met.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leverages business acumen and functional expertise to contribute to the strategic direction of the Construction Products segment.
  • Develops and implements a long-term and annual operating plan for the commodity utilizing the ITW methodology and their personal knowledge and experience. Deliver annual sourcing savings across divisions.
  • Identifies strategic partners and delivers improved products and lower costs to the organization through supplier management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles.
  • Leverages strong project and change management skills to drive continuous improvements for the commodity. Introduces innovative strategies for the commodity.
  • Develop and lead the Construction Products global steel commodity team. Builds a diverse, high performing commodity team, to deliver short and long-term strategy on the steel portfolio.
  • Builds and leverages relationships and networks across the organization. Uses personal influence skills rather than position power to persuade others and gain support.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years of broad sourcing leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing organization, across a large multi-location, global business.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of buying and/or manufacturing experience with a wide variety of steel/steel components
  • Managed at least $100M + in annualized spend in direct material (Metals/Steel), with a strong understanding of global steel supply base. Experience with Asian markets desirable, with a concentration on steel production in China.
  • Ability to develop and project manage cost reduction initiatives with global teams. Solid track record of driving operational improvements (design and build) to support the business strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing senior executives.
  • Proven results in managing and implementing sourcing strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other related field. Master’s degree (MBA preferred) and CPM/ CPIM preferred.
