Position Summary

The Global Sourcing Director – Logistics will be responsible for the management of the $100M Logistics spend within Construction Products. Reporting to the Construction Products Sourcing Group Director, the incumbent will be responsible for setting the business segment logistics strategy, managing global suppliers, and ensuring all productivity and sourcing metrics are met.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leverages business acumen and functional expertise to contribute to the strategic direction of the Construction Products segment.
  • Develops and implements a long-term and annual operating plan for supply chain costs, utilizing the ITW sourcing tool box and their personal knowledge and experience.
  • Identifies strategic partners and delivers improved logistics services and lower costs to the organization through supplier management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles.
  • Leverages strong project and change management skills to drive continuous improvements for the commodity. Introduces innovative strategies for the commodity.  Provides supply chain capability for new products.
  • Responsible for leading the Construction Products Global Logistics team. Builds a diverse, high performing team, including all divisions logistics leaders to deliver short and long-term strategy on the logistics spend portfolio.
  • Work with the VPGMs to understand the specific logistics needs and translate in to the Segment logistics strategy.
  • Enable the divisions to optimize logistic cost by developing the required skills on logistics divisional leaders.
  • Builds and leverages relationships and networks across the organization. Works closely with business leaders to optimize the supply chain network. Uses personal influence skills rather than position power to persuade others and gain support.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years of broad sourcing leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing organization, across a large multi-location, global business.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of strategic sourcing and leadership experience with supply chain, distribution and warehousing.
  • Managed at least $100M+ in annualized spend in transportation services, 3PL, logistics services, with a strong understanding of supply chain networks and optimization. Experience with global operations required.
  • Strong track record of driving operational improvements (design and build) to support the business strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience as a business partner across multiple regions and influencing senior executives.
  • Proven results in developing, managing and implementing sourcing strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree and CPM/ CPIM preferred.
