Regional Sales Manager

Job Description:

  • To maximise sales and profits of the complete product range via a team of self-employed sales agents.
  • To lead, support, train, manage and motivate the field sales function across the Region.
  • Provide 1st class sales support via the sales team through a “hands on” approach.
  • Generate a team culture through effective man management skills and motivation.
  • Manage the team sales performance via monitoring and introducing specific action plans.
  • Proactively participate in sales presentations and demonstrations at key account level.
  • Develop all key account activity for the region involving the local sales agent at each opportunity.
  • Ensure seamless communication flow through the team, marketing and Senior Management.
  • To assist the sales agent to target new sales opportunities within their geographical area.
  • To build effective business relationships with customers at all levels.
  • To support sales through the effective provision of sales data, including the timely recording of visits and action reports and analysis of sales performance against budget.
  • To develop and undertake presentations to enhance the company’s image and increase sales.
  • To consistently analyse the business and grow sales year on year.
  • To embrace and focus on the ITW Business model

Person Specification:


  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a direct sales force, preferably self- employed sales people.
  • Capable of building successful relationships with team members.
  • Able to adopt a leader’s approach towards motivating your sales team.
  • Ability to win team member empathy and apply a persuasive and effective management style that embraces a motivated and focussed working culture.
  • Apply an enthusiastic approach towards driving your team towards personal and company objectives.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable skills in managing a franchised sales force or self-employed individuals would be distinctly advantageous.
  • Automotive expertise is preferable however not essential as the key to success strongly revolves around managing and motivating your team.
  • An interest in technical/ mechanical demonstrations is conducive to the role as this position operates in a highly “hands on” and demonstrative industry
  • Ability to deliver Head Office initiatives
  • Ability to lead a team and adhere to ITW metrics
  • Fully PC literate, including MS Office.


  • 3-5 years of sales experience of managing self-employed sales people AND selling to national accounts
  • Strong knowledge of product offerings and applications
  • Leadership and management skills

The Candidate

To be suitable for this role you will ideally be from an Automotive, National Account background or have worked in an aligned market such as distribution or hard parts products. You should have a good working knowledge and up to date contacts within the trade sector and be looking for a chance to make your mark within a business.
