Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is a world-renowned leader in welding education and technical training.   Currently, Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is seeking a Financial Aid Administrator based in Troy, Ohio.



The function of the Financial Aid Administrator is to provide financial aid information to students, staff and faculty and coordinate financial aid documents, procedures and activities assuring compliance to regulations.


  • Counsel and advises students and parents or guardians about financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, application procedures, costs, indebtedness, and financial planning.

  • Collect, analyze, and verify financial data of students to determine aid eligibility and make awards within federal, state, donor, and/or institutional guidelines.

  • Manage and update student financial aid databases and resolve issues with student records and transactions.

  • Evaluates unusual/mitigating circumstance documentation or information provided by the student; exercises judgment when making adjustments or revisions to costs, contributions or need as exceptions to the prescribed process.

  • Answers questions, inquiries, or requests from students, parents, or guardians in person, on the phone, electronically in writing regarding financial aid programs and eligibility.

  • Assists in the preparation of materials and presents information regarding federal financial aid to prospective and current students.

  • Analyzes various system-generated reports such as grades and enrollment status or award status to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal and institutional guidelines; notifies the students of changes in eligibility of awards and alternatives to amend the situation.

  • Coordinate and process Educational Assistance Programs for Veterans and their dependents regarding GI Bill and Post 9/11.

  • Default Management – Continually review and counsel students about their responsibility to repay loans obtained.

  • Maintains and updates Financial Aid Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Participate in the annual audit of student’s financial aid records.

  • Awareness of Department of Education requirements regarding Net Price Calculator, Financial Aid Shopping Sheet and Gainful Employment.

  • Travel as needed for training and presentation purposes to stay informed of changes regarding financial aid benefits.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet.

  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Organization and neatness.

  • Confident, outgoing personality.

  • Professional appearance is essential.

  • Respectful behavior to all potential students, parents, staff, and the public.

  • Trustworthy and honest.

  • Ability to learn quickly.

  • Ability to handle pressure.

  • Willing to learn other job functions.

  • Needs basic understanding of mathematics.

  • Previous Financial Aid experience is a plus.

  • Experience in education is a plus.

  • Desire experience with Campus Vue software.

  • Higher Education degree in business is a plus.
