Job Description

ITW United Silicone is looking for a Field Service Technician to cover the Northeast USA. United Silicone Tax Stamp is a business based out of Lancaster, NY that builds, sells, and services tax stamp machines. Field technicians work alone or with other technicians on Cigarette Tax Stamping machines that places state tax stamps on cigarettes. Field technicians work alone or with other technicians on case cutting equipment that cuts open master cases of cigarettes. A technician travels overnight 100% of their time to perform installations, preventive maintenance and service calls at assigned accounts in one or more states. Technicians repair, test, install, removes and ship all varieties of company equipment as requested.  Maintains good customer relations with assigned accounts and is responsible for documenting all service-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs proper preventative maintenance routines, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and installation of all United Silicone Tax Stamp and Cutting machines. Follows proper procedures for safety, documentation and reports, etc.
  • Provides technical support by phone to other technicians or customer operators as necessary.
  • Assists Engineering department on equipment failures or trends and recommends design modifications.
  • Advises manager of customer concerns and needs.
  • Travels outside territory to assist other technicians or customers if needed. Shows initiative and expertise in solving problems at a high level.
  • Backs up manager as necessary to provide reports, direction, and/or administrative support
  • Maintains all company property, including vehicle, safety equipment, and tools in good working condition. Exercises safe working practices and procedures at all times
  • Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.


Qualifications

Education:  Requires minimum of high school diploma and four years of electrical and mechanical training or equivalent experience. Associates degree in technical field preferred.

Experience/Skills: 

  • Requires excellent communication with multiple departments and levels of the organization.
  • Prefer 4+ years of experience as a field service technician
  • Must have good driving record
  • Ability to travel overnight on regular basis and work overtime when needed.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, reach outward, and drive; occasionally twist/turn, crawl, reach above shoulder, stand, walk, bend, and grasp with hands.
  2. The employee must carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and push and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus.
