Job Description

North Star Imaging (NSI/ITW) manufactures, sells and services state-of-the-art X-ray Imaging systems and CT equipment for industrial use. We also design and develop the software applications used in our systems. Our Inspection Services Group offers need based consulting for anyone needing X-ray and/or computed tomography scanning.  In addition, NSI provides a Technical Service & Support team that is on call 24/7 to address immediate global customer service needs.

Our corporate office is located in the city of Rogers, just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota. This facility has approximately 90 highly skilled employees including application specialists, mechanical engineers, software engineers, programmers, level 3 instructors and others.

Our Field Service Engineers conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, and installation of industrial x-ray inspection equipment. This equipment includes electrical/electronic control, PC, PLC, and motion controls. Successful candidates must have an electrical/electronics engineering or engineering technology degree, excellent customer service skills, strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to travel (up to 50%) and great communication & follow through skills.

Field Service Engineers at NSI diagnose and repair industrial test equipment; including but not limited to high voltage generators, electrical distribution panels, PLC’s, PC’s, control software and automation components.

Successful candidates will have  3-5 years’ experience in a similar role servicing complex capital equipment and experience with resolving technical issues in a highly sensitive environment.

Additional duties include:

  • Traveling to customer site for preventative maintenance, installations as well as emergency service.

  • Assisting manufacturing with system integration and installation.

  • Working  with the service coordinator on scheduling and billing.

  • Assisting customers over the phone with technical problems and troubleshooting.

  • Training customers on the proper operation of equipment following an installation.

  • Working overtime and occasional weekend travel.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex technical information involving mechanics and electronics. 

  • Ability to interpret schematic and electrical diagrams.

  • Strong ability to use electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscope and Multi-meter. 

  • Ability to work independently with a high sense of urgency. 

  • Ability to occasionally be on call for phone support. 

  • Ability to manage service schedule that results in timely service for customers. 

  • Strong customer service skills with high level of professionalism.
