We have an opportunity for a highly motivated professional whose work will reflect Instron’s commitment to total customer satisfaction.  Working from our Ann Arbor office you will be responsible for traveling to customer sites to perform system level integration, technical support for customers and other members of a worldwide team on a wide range of Instron’s servo-hydraulic structural testing products.
As a field commissioning engineer (FCE) you will be responsible for working within a team environment to understand the main systems assemblies and sub-assemblies including their electrical, PLC, and mechanical software interconnections in order to provide system level integration and direct support on site or remote support to customers.
The FCE will interface with headquarters to provide the necessary information in order to deliver accurate and timely information to customers with regards to ongoing projects, installation status, maintenance status, support requests, spare parts, upgrade requests, and additional service requests.
The FCE may travel to company international locations and International customers.
You will be provided with a company vehicle, appropriate tools/equipment, including a laptop computer and smartphone, and the assurance that you have the support of well-established and growing service operation.  Overnight travel is expected to be about 75%, including multiple weeks for installation work.
Successful applicants will have a technical BS degree or equivalent military/trade training, with a minimum of two years’ experience, planning and performing system level integration and commissioning of complex servo-hydraulic structural test systems, expert troubleshooting and repair experience of electromechanical and/or servo-hydraulic systems.  A broad based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic systems, PLC automation, as well as a familiarity with PC’s including operating systems and Windows applications, is also essential.
In addition, you must be self-motivated, possess exceptional organizational and time management skills and due to the high level of customer interaction, possess strong interpersonal skills.  A positive and customer focused attitude is also required, as well as significant customer facing experience.  Bilingual (German and English) applicants will be welcomed.
