Title: Field Based Account Manager – Central US

Company Description:

ITW Professional Automotive Products specializes in the manufacture of automotive service products including automotive maintenance chemicals, equipment, and wiper blades. The division manufacturers and markets the Wynn’s and Rain-X Professional brands. The selling channel is primarily the DIFM new car dealership arena. Major business segments include: New Car Dealers, Tire-Muffler-Brake and Quick-Lube stores and chains. Sales are approximately $57 million annually and primarily sold through distributors. Corporate offices and manufacturing are located in the Tampa Bay, FL area.


The Field Based Account Manager is responsible for the sales of ITW’s products and the relationships we have with our distributors. Account managers have geographic responsibility in the Central US, predominantly in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa, and report to a Regional Sales Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting an existing distributor network in the growth of existing business and the acquisition of new business
  • Supporting existing distributors in the presentation and training of products and services to existing clients
  • Cold calling new car dealership opportunities and working with distributors to identify, develop and close new business
  • Training the distributor’s sales team and customers on products, equipment and service offerings
  • Responsible for reviewing current accounts, selling new products to existing accounts, and gaining placement of existing products to accounts that do not yet carry them
  • Collects and enters basic information on customer accounts, decision makers, product needs/issues, etc.
  • Submits short and long-range sales plans and prepares sales strategies utilizing available marketing programs to reach nominated targets
  • Responsible for retaining long-term customer relationships with established distributors


  • Automotive dealership experience is preferred; either as a Service Manager, a Service Advisor or a Sales Representative focused on new car automotive dealerships
  • Sales experience in the Automotive Dealership Channel within the Central US market preferred
  • Experience in automotive service and/or automotive chemical sales strongly preferred
  • Ability to present automotive profit programs and/or automotive technical demonstrations
  • Comfortable speaking to and/or training automotive Dealer Principles, Service Directors, Service Managers, Technicians and Service Advisors
  • Ability to grow and develop territory revenue
  • Experience in developing strategic plans and accurate forecasts for territory and accounts.
  • Account Managers must be able to work with distributors to develop new business opportunities and to develop existing account volume.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required
  • Training experience preferred
  • Cold calling experience preferred
  • Strong intrapersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products preferred
  • Track record of success in a highly self-directed environment
  • Travel 65-70%, current driver’s license with clean driving record
