Position Summary:
The Engineering Intern reports to the Quality Manager and will collaborate with Sales, Customers, and Manufacturing from idea generation through product launch. This position will have the opportunity to learn and support the roles of product and tooling design, quotation construction, product testing, quality control, and sales.

Job Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Complete ITW Toolbox training (80/20, Front-to-Back, etc.)
  • Learn and apply safety rules and regulations in the operations environment.
  • Learn Shakeproof product lines and methods of manufacturing, heat treat, finishing, sourcing and other processing functions. Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, sales, and quality functions and processes.
  • Learn the process and details necessary for the construction of quotations that meet variable and material margins based on existing insourcing, outsourcing, and material costs including established tooling costs derived from tool design/development.
  • Learn APQP process and support production launches through preparation and processing of documentation, manufacturing drawing releases, and data entry for business change requests.
  • Support product development through the generation of two and three-dimensional CAD data.
  • Learn the design for tooling in order to determine material consumption/blank size and associated material costs.
  • Support product and tool design and development in the build and validation of product and tooling.
  • Support continuous improvement through tool modifications of existing production tooling. Engage in tooling change revisions, making tooling changes based on requests from manufacturing.
  • Support sales by participating in customer visits, line walks and/or quotation requests.
  • All other relative functions as requested.

  • Pursuing a BS degree in an Engineering or Technical field.
  • Prior intern or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to focus and prioritize task and objectives.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Windows based software)
  • Preferred knowledge of Solid works and Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Willing to travel
Other Considerations:
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas
  • Working conditions including normal office setting
  • Willing and able to travel; primarily domestic
  • Salary and benefits commensurate with experience
