Role Summary:


ITW Automotive Body and Fuel is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a minimum of three years’ experience to work at our LaGrange, GA facility.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Process Engineering to improve production related processes including material flow, cell design, packaging design, ergonomics, production monitoring systems (IMES), time studies, capacity analysis and automation projects.

  • Seek continuous improvement opportunities through system/process/equipment improvements.

  • Assist with problem solving/root cause analysis and implements corrective actions.

  • Establish internal and external packaging needs and a packaging tracking system.

  • Work with employees to insure proper and efficient operation of assembly/automation equipment and material flow

  • Create and update production reporting documents, PFMEA’s, process flow diagrams, production reports, Kanban signals etc.

  • Develop training materials and conduct classes on systems for production reporting, scrap reporting and efficiencies.

  • Work with others to determine needs and cost effectiveness to automate projects

  • Ensure launch readiness in advance of SOP

  • Design/construction of fixtures

  • Coordinate and direct Kaizen events to improve OEE and ergonomics

  • Coordinate and direct high-volume production tryouts on new automation equipment

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Mechanical

  • Three years’ experience in manufacturing/operations environment

  • Knowledge in automotive and/or plastic injection molding part design, performance, material selection, tooling technology

  • Adaptable, flexible, organized and ability to act with a sense of urgency

  • Team player who also works independently

  • Demonstrated analytical/problem-solving, project management/task planning, engineering risk assessment, creativity/innovation and technical leadership skills.

  • Possess ability to make sound, logical judgments using deductive reasoning using attention to detail with an understanding of cause and effect of such decisions.

  • Strong organization skills and ability to take on projects from concept to implementation

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
