The Automotive Electronics Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for all Automotive divisions, providing expertise in the design and implementation of embedded automotive electronics solutions.  As the automotive industry enters a period of massive disruption, we are seeking an individual who will engage with our various automotive divisions, supporting their efforts in developing next generation product solutions for our customers.  As more and more vehicle systems and components become linked on vehicle busses, we are playing an active role in solving our customers’ needs by developing solutions that connect, communicate and function in the electronics space. 

This individual will assist divisions in specifying HW/SW solutions, support and participate in design and review activities, engage with the division team in customer discussions and serve as the subject matter expert in vetting third party vendors.

In addition, the Automotive Electronics Engineer will need to keep current with the latest technology developments, reaching out to internal and external networks, as needed, to ensure subject matter expertise is maintained.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • This individual will serve as the electronics and embedded HW/SW systems subject matter expert for the automotive segment.
  • The individual will serve as a resource to all the automotive divisions.
  • Division engagement will range from support in the specification and design of embedded electronics for our products, part time assignment during innovation and new product development and product launch capabilities, support of vetting third party hardware, software and embedded system providers.
  • This individual will maintain a high level of product & industry awareness to keep current on new suppliers, market trends, technology roadmaps, best practices, etc.
  • Division support may also include serving as a subject matter expert in all things electronics during engagements with our automotive customers.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of practical electrical engineering experience. Automotive background or experience in printed wiring board design a plus. 
  • Experience in design of analog and digital electronics is required as well as working knowledge of microprocessors/micro-controller digital architectures, communication circuits, digital inputs and outputs.
  • Sound electrical design/analytical/technical skills.
  • Solid knowledge of the various automotive industry standards
  • Proficiency with SPICE, MathCAD, Matlab, or similar simulation/analysis.
  • Experience with general lab equipment, oscilloscopes, function generators, network analyzers, etc.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Global awareness and willingness to travel up to 40%, both domestic and international
  • Fast learner that demonstrates strong business acumen and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working with cross functional teams
  • Ability to develop positive relationships by demonstrating respect for others' perspectives and attention to their needs; shows understanding, approachability, tact to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations.
