Job Description

Summary

Plans and performs jobs of installing and maintaining a variety of electrical equipment such as control panels. Connects and disconnects electric powered machines. Diagnoses electrical trouble. Works from wiring diagrams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

·         Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance.

·         Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.

·         Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments.

·         Work with live high voltage (230V, 460V)

·         Has a focus on personal safety as well as the safety of others around them

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Experienced electrician requiring completion of two years of formal training or technical school; and two years of job experience 

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, electrical schematics, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Other Skills and Abilities

·         Must be familiar with AC and DC as well as low and high voltage and be able to troubleshoot live circuits.

·         Must understand the requirements of PLC wiring.

·         Must be able to differentiate wire colors.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee.

·         Must be able to lift 50 pounds

·         Must be able to climb stairs

·         Must be able to climb ladders

·         Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours without formal breaks

·         Must be able to work in non-air conditioned environment.

·         Must be able to learn and safely operate an overhead crane and drive a forklift.
