Electrical Lab Technician – Troy, OH

Illinois Tool Works (ITW) is a Fortune 200 company that produces diversified products in global markets.  Some of its products include welding equipment, automotive components, construction materials and commercial food equipment.  The Food Equipment Group is one of seven ITW decentralized business segments.  This position is in the Hobart Warewash Division at its Troy, Ohio facility, located 20 minutes north of the Dayton metropolitan area.

The Warewash Business Division produces Hobart-brand commercial dishwashers used in hotels, casinos, restaurants, cruise ships, schools, universities and retail establishments.  We are the industry leader and are seeking to expand our growth in existing served markets as well as new markets.

Summary:

The role of the Electrical Lab Technician is to build electrical assemblies, harnesses and modify circuit boards for test and evaluation.  In addition, this position will conduct performance and compliance testing on ITW FEG commercial dishwasher products and maintain test equipment and calibration services in the laboratory. 

What you will do:

  • Set up and automate test equipment to achieve validation goals on ITW FEG components and product as directed

  • Use basic hand and power tools

  • Understand, create and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuit functions

  • Assemble and test circuit boards and components

  • Confer with engineering, technical and compliance personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation

  • Coordinate activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required for safety and compliance testing

  • Assist in providing technical support to customers

Job Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Computer skills - software proficiencies will include the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with electrical lab equipment such as digital multi meter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Skill in the use, application, and evaluation of power handling devices and components, i.e., motors, heaters, electrical power handling devices, etc.
  • Medium to expert level soldering and printed circuit board rework skills
  • Ability to perform software verification testing and document results
  • Programming skills – familiarity with LabView, data logger programming and PLC programming highly desirable
  • Good written and spoken communication skills

Education and experience:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, preferred
  • 5 – 8 years of test experience
  • Technical experience
