Hobart Weigh/Wrap is part of the ITW Food Equipment Group. We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer.  This position will be based in Troy, Ohio.  


The selected candidate will design, modify, develop, implement, and test high quality hardware for weigh and wrap products. This engineer will participate in the testing process through design reviews and analysis as well as test witnessing and certification of all electronics and be responsible for scale and automatic wrapping system electronic assembly development. This individual will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and must work with little supervision.  Creativity and innovation is a very important aspect of this position.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


 Plan, develop, and implement projects in a cross-functional team working on retail scale and automated wrapping systems


 Design and/or evaluation of hardware design, components, and systems requiring knowledge of accepted engineering theory and principles


 Apply analytical engineering theory to specific designs, or evaluates designs with cause and effect analysis and statistical data analysis. Perform analysis of data and makes appropriate modifications; follows design through series of related processes


 Provides written input for project reports, focusing on assigned tasks


 Responsible for discreet tasks on projects.  Tasks will involve more complex or diverse design techniques


 A highly motivated self-starter experienced in working on projects with excellent communication skills


 Candidate should be able to write and release design documents and ensure requirements are developed with correct metrics.


 Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced engineering environment and quickly adapt to changing project requirements and schedules as needed.


 Work within a team of electrical engineers in a product development effort


 Participate in design reviews and provide feedback


 Participate in hardware reviews for assigned tasks and document the design


 Develop and execute testing for new hardware enhancements that assure correct functionality.


 Active participant in integration and regression testing


 Logical, deductive reasoning and attentive to details


 Creative, adaptable, flexible, problem solving skills, sense of urgency, listening skills, organized




Job Requirements

Requirements: 


  Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (4 Year Degree)


  2+ years of product development experience


  Ability to conceptualize and development new electronic designs related to scale and wrapping systems


  Experience designing circuit boards and selecting components in the design.


o  This includes:


●  System Hardware Design – Including basic analog, digital, and cable design


●  Schematic Capture


●  Component Placement


●  Cable design


●  Routing and Layout


●  Board file generation (Gerber files and documentation) for manufacturing


●  Development of electronic PCB assemblies using embedded microcontrollers


●  Bill of Materials generation


●  PADS Designer from Mentor Graphics


  General or Hardware Development


o  Familiarity with the following protocols (i2c, SPI, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, CANbus, WiFi)


o  Ability to develop and conduct EMI, ESD, and environmental testing


o  Ability to develop board level test procedures and equipment


  Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer and will not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future



Preferred Qualifications


  Familiarity with NXP and Atmel MCU product line and designs a plus


  Familiarity with Labview and Digital Acquisition Systems


  Familiarity with Jira, Silicon Expert, and PLMS systems


  Experience working in Agile development environment


  Software development in the C or C++ programming language
