Reports To: Supply Chain Manager – Transportation Dept.

The position of Domestic Coordinator / Transportation Assistant supports the Transportation Department to facilitate and ensure transportation-related functions are completed, audited, and recorded accurately. The position also supports the Import and Freight payment roles within the department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receive and interpret freight quote requests from both internal and external customers.  Process and communicate quote request responses to the requesting parties.
  • Sourcing truckload freight quotes from carriers, coordinating truckload pick-ups and deliveries, and monitoring shipments in transit for performance and completion.
  • Filing and recordkeeping related to both domestic and import shipments.
  • Interact with third-party logistics providers via phone, websites, and email, and follow up on shipments.
  • Track/trace and report functions related to transportation processes.
  • Review bills, invoices and purchase orders as needed for Transportation Dept. functions.
  • Data entry/logging quotes, freight bills, etc. 
  • Other responsibilities as necessary in support of the Transportation Dept. functions.

Skills:

  • Effective communication essential, both oral and written.
  • Superior computer skills, competent user of Microsoft office applications, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Works independently and takes ownership of responsibilities, working with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving documentation, and general transportation processes.
  • General understanding of domestic ‘modes of transport’ helpful.
