Division Description: 

ITW Drawform Division serves major Tier suppliers with tightly toleranced and innovative components for the automotive and industrial markets totaling approximately $200M in revenues globally. The division holds a leadership position in North America and a growing presence in Europe. The division also supports ITW initiatives for our facility in China. 

The division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions, design engineering and global footprint. 

Position Objective:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will have responsibility for managing the daily operations of the Drawform Division’s sourcing function.  It will have oversite to all Drawform locations, and will manage a team of 3-5 people. The incumbent will prepare short to medium-term action plans for meeting functional goals, and will be responsible for the identification, definition and resolution of problems that are often non-conforming and unique without clear precedent and limited guidance. 

Essential Functions:

  • Prioritizes purchasing initiatives, establishes policies and objectives, and defines the company’s key sourcing strategies
  • Sets strategies related to vendor assessments and purchasing terms and conditions to help ensure products or services ordered are delivered on time at the best quality and value
  • Establishes policies and methodologies for sourcing new products or services, approving vendors, and determining when products should be sourced to a single vendor or to multiple vendors to provide for a stable and consistent supply
  • Collaborates with internal business partners to understand demand and supplier trends, and analyzes financial information related to total cost of ownership to identify opportunities for cost reductions
  • Responsible for individual and team employee development, sets department objectives and monitors the status to achieving those objectives at departmental and staff levels
  • Oversees critical supplier relationship management and contract management processes to ensure terms are met and termination dates are monitored
  • Analyze current vendor services and cost structures to develop short- and long-range plans to improve sourcing costs and vendor performance
  • Look for opportunities to consolidate vendors and partner with colleagues to set purchasing standards to improve negotiations and reduce the total cost of ownership for products and services
  • Defines, leads and negotiates activities aligned with commodity strategies for multiple locations
  • Delivers purchasing budget, updated forecasts, and reports monthly savings activities; Drives savings activities at all locations
  • Understands and follows the metals commodity market, tracks metal indices with monthly reports for domestic and global markets and works closely with the Global Metals Segment Commodity Manager on strategy and execution
  • Performs continual reviews and evaluations of the current supply base, including actively participating with supplier rating reports, and also new potential suppliers
  • Assists the supplier evaluation team in the development of suppliers
  • Arranges technical support for new or existing programs to aid in the design and usage of raw materials
  • Assist with the quoting process of raw material, as required

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Similar;
  • 10 years experience in purchasing, including multi-site and multi-type products
  • Automotive experience required; steel experience highly preferable

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of materials
  • Background in manufacturing
  • Commitment to highest ethical standards
  • Knowledge of North American, European and Asian Steel Specifications
