The Director, Diversity & Inclusion works in close partnership with business and HR leaders to support the enterprise talent strategy with specific focus on enhancing diversity and workplace inclusion capabilities across ITW’s global organization.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide insight and guidance into the continued development of strategy, goals and specific D&I objectives to support the achievement of enterprise talent and business objectives. Serve as an expert resource to business and HR leaders on diversity and inclusion practices and programs through close and collaborative partnerships across the enterprise.
  • Design, develop and/or identify simple tools and resources for the organization to utilize to ensure inclusive workplaces and enable the attraction, development, engagement and retention of diverse talent.
  • Provide leadership and support to ITW’s global employee resource groups (ERGs). Manage relationships with ERG leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise D&I objectives.  Facilitate communication with ERGs, the enterprise-wide D&I Council and senior leadership. Manage enterprise ERG budgets. Guide and support development and implementation of emerging ERGs.
  • Work closely with the corporate talent management and talent acquisition team on enterprise talent initiatives to support the attraction and development of diverse high potential talent in the enterprise leadership pipeline. Develop effective talent management and talent acquisition strategies to attract, develop and retain diverse professional and leadership talent.
  • Identify and manage ITW’s partnerships with external diversity organizations with the intent to deliver measurable outcomes and results for recruiting and developing diverse talent.
  • Manage enterprise diversity metrics to assess progress against the enterprise D&I objectives, including quarterly reporting to leadership. Working with the HRIS team, identify and analyze available organizational data for useful and actionable insights.
  • Coordinate participation in external surveys and benchmarking.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in human resources with substantive experience developing and delivering execution of broad scale human capital and diversity and inclusion strategies; experience in a global organization is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to build highly effective and collaborative relationships across all levels of an organization. Excellent communication skills – verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation along with written message development.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in metric development, analysis and reporting (including proficiency in Excel, Power BI and other reporting tools). Familiarity with human resource information systems data and reporting preferred.
  • Strong project management skills. With an ability to work proactively while balancing multiple priorities and workload.
  • Ability to be flexible, shift priorities and take on other duties as assigned.
  • Must be both strategic and hands-on with the ability to navigate between the two.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10-20 percent).
