SCOPE:

Contribute and assist in the conception, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of core products to achieve business unit and corporate goals.


FUNCTION:


A key contributing role within a small, dynamic, cross-functional team. Support and/or complete medium to high level, complex engineering tasks/projects as assigned in collaboration, or working independently, to meet business objectives and product lines for the food service industry.





EDUCATION:

BS in Engineering required (BSME preferred). 


EXPERIENCE:

5+ years engineering experience related to product design and development in a manufacturing environment.


SKILLS/ ABILITY:

• 3D modeling using SolidWorks and experience with PDM Workgroup.

• Adaptable, innovative, problem solving skills, sense of urgency, drive for continuous improvement.

• Effective oral / written communication, listening skills.

• Capable of working through an engineering problem independently.

• Small-scale project management and project task planning in a team environment.

• Applicable computer skills using Microsoft Suite.

• Organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes: machining, metal forming, assembly, material flow.

• Develop policies, procedures and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials,     

   components and or operations.

• Adherence to standards, policies and practices including safety and regulatory compliance.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of UL, CSA and NSF standards.

• Working knowledge of thermodynamic concepts.

• Experience with value engineering, cost / benefit analysis, cost improvement.

• Microsoft Project.

• Familiarity with FMEA, CFD, electrical wiring experience.

Job Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Product design and design improvements of cooking equipment including concept development, design

   validation, agency approval, print release, manufacturing evaluation and product launch within a specified

   project timeline.

• Manage technical design aspects of a project from inception through production launch. 

• Proof of concept and proof of application in a test lab environment.

• Work with operations team to implement design changes, monitor and analyze manufacturing quality,     

   ensure workflows and processes, develop corrective actions as needed.

• Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve engineering and quality related issues.

• Coordinate engineering activities with other stakeholders (internal & external) including change plans,

   engineering changes, performance/agency testing and field testing.

• Create / develop engineering project documentation, i.e. bill of materials, drawings and specifications.

• Support sales, service and marketing to resolve customer issues.

• Contribute to a cross-functional team as required to support the development of other projects related to

   the group.

• Interaction with customers on product design, specifications, and improvement


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Office & R&D Laboratory Environment

• Minimal travel.

• Hands on testing and/or trouble shooting.

• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
