Basic Description:

This individual will work closely with Welding Division engineers and technicians in designing and testing equipment for regulatory compliance. 80% of the job will be designing and testing for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), while 20% of the job will be performing other tests, such as energy consumption, EMF exposure, and touch current.

Essential Functions:

Enhance company's proactive approach to product regulatory compliance, with a focus on EMC within the product development and product support processes. Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills to schedule all in-house and outsourced testing, working closely with the outside test facilities. Create and maintain test reports within the product technical files. Create and maintain test procedures and forms. Procure, calibrate and maintain test equipment. Participate in EMC committees to maintain standards. Advise and assist engineers and technicians on how to design for EMC and other regulatory requirements. This individual will also be a CSA Testing Witness.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Minimum three years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer.

• Proficient in using, maintaining, and calibrating EMC test equipment and software.

• Proficient in using, maintaining, and calibrating energy consumption test equipment and software.

• Proficient in performing key safety tests, such as touch current and dielectric strength.

• Proficient in setting up tests, assessing test results, and writing test reports.

• Proficient in interpretation and execution of EMC standards such as IEC 60974-10 , IEC 61000 series, and CISPR 11.

• Basic understanding of switch mode power supply design (full bridge, half bridge, buck, boost, flyback, and forward) and component selection.

• Basic understanding of rotating electric machines.

• Basic understanding of electromagnetic fields (EMF).

• Ability to test, debug, and characterize circuits.

• Ability to model and simulate circuits using PSpice or equivalent.

• Familiar with schematic design and layout of multi-layer PCBs.

• Familiar with statistics and statistical analysis.

• Familiar with capital expenditure process.

• Analytical, organized, and detail oriented with the ability to concurrently manage several projects.

• Effective Communicator - able to understand and interpret technical information pertaining to regulatory compliance and communicate this information to Divisions.

• Well networked with key engineers and outside technical resources.
