Description Position at Hartness International Commercial Credit & Collections Analyst

The Commercial Credit and Collections analyst monitors and provides support for accounts receivable transactions including credit and collections. This requires coordination and collaboration with colleagues across functional areas regarding customers and revenue matters.  This position is an integral part of the larger accounting and overall Hartness team and may be asked to participate on additional projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Collection of outstanding accounts receivables

  • Resolve customer-billing problems and accounts receivable delinquency in a timely manner
  • Monitor collections and contact delinquent customers to resolve issues within established guidelines or recommend further action
  • Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss them with Management and Project Managers, with support from Project Managers as needed
  • Provide timely follow-up on payment arrangements
  • Maintain receivable / collection policies & procedures according to ITW guidelines
  • Conduct collection meetings when required
  • Oversee, reconcile and assist Customer Service with Moneris credit card transactions


  • Perform credit checks on new accounts and updates on existing customers and propose credit limits
  • Approve credit extension within established guidelines
  • Assist in customer due diligence & risk management

Reporting Requirements & Other

  • Prepare accurate accounting for receivable and reserve transaction calculations, monthly reconciliations and AR control per ITW policy
  • Ensure timely and pro-active reporting of past-due receivable balances
  • Analyze and report ageing and collection results and ensure targets are met
  • Further leverage Mapics and Crystal Reports to enhance early warning signs, reporting and customer order-to-cash cycle
  • Maintain customer database, including sales tax certificates and renewals
  • Backup colleagues on the Hartness switchboard
  • Perform other projects and tasks as required

Education & Experience:

  • Proven working experience in accounts receivable, at least 2 years preferred
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal teams and stakeholders
  • Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred
