Job Description

Position Responsibilities

  • Actively identify and prospect for business opportunities within your allocated portfolio and segment to reach/exceed the growth target by:

    • identifying opportunities by analysing current, lapsed and potential new customers from raw data

    • networking and exploiting opportunities within Hobart Service and other sister divisions of ITW UK

  • Develop a sound knowledge of all the products, services, competitors and customer priorities in your segment.

  • Be responsible for the design of thoughtful and creative solutions for clients that best meet their objectives. This will include preparing final proposal documents for medium and large contracts with a focus on recommendations, financial justification, savings, profit stories etc within the agreed authority structure.

  • Prepare account development plans on key customers and prospects within your segment/portfolio detailing key information on customer insight, visions and growth strategies.

  • Identify and communicate within our division any factors that may affect the customer retention, contact renewal or revenue forecast.

  • Contribute to developing sales materials and marketing campaigns.

  • Complete company reports including weekly reports, pipeline and forecasts in required time scales.

  • Ensure that the business database is updated and maintained on an ongoing basis.


Performance Indicators

  • Monthly sales review with Sales and Marketing Manager including:

    • portfolio size against previous year

    • pipeline and sales forecast

    • account development plans

    • contract renewals

  • Weekly/monthly reporting as defined


  • Salary, travel expenses and company car

Job Requirements

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum three years B2B business development experience, preferably in the Service industry.

  • Highly motivated and well-organised, with a passion to succeed and the ability to prioritise workloads.

  • Excellent listening, solution selling, negotiation and presentation abilities.

  • Good problem solver, capable of managing processes and resolving issues whilst on the move.

  • Able to engage with a broad spectrum of people at all levels of an organisation, from onsite managers to senior business managers and directors.

  • Numerate and able to produce analysis from multiple data sources.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office Suite essential, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

  • Full driving licence at the time of appointment.


  • Previous experience and success selling into the Education sector and/or Facilities Management would be an advantage.

  • Previous knowledge of the food equipment/commercial kitchen environment/service industry market desirable.
