Job Description

Responsible for timely and accurate service reporting and analytics.  Through collaboration with internal partners and senior management, the analyst will provide support in all phases of the reporting life-cycle. The successful candidate will also assist in the development of advanced methods of predictive modeling that will assist with the reactive and proactive support of the business. The Analyst is expected to be highly motivated, detail oriented, analytical, and able to prioritize multiple deadlines.  

  • Reviews current reports and outputs for accuracy, efficiency and viability
  • Gathers business requirements
  • Determines most effective and efficient reporting platform for each type of reporting needed
  • Reviews logic, criteria and definitions to incorporate into data models for extracting functional reporting data sets
  • Collects statistical information to determine areas of negative impact, or at least areas of opportunity
  • Receives, investigates and resolves data request inquiries
  • Leverages data analytics tools to create new dashboards, reports, and any additional ad-hoc requests
  • Performs deep dive analytics, identify trends, and provides meaningful observations useful for the stakeholders while making projections
  • Develop user documentation for reports and provide user support and training as needed.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Management Information Systems
  • Up to 3 years' recent experience in Data Analyst role
  • Proficient in data analysis, with ability to write queries to retrieve and analyze data from relational data sources
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products to include Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Pivot, MSQuery and PowerPoint
  • Ability to assimilate extensive amounts of detailed data, for analyzing and summarizing vast amounts of information as well as understanding details supporting the analysis
  • Inquisitive, detail disposition with strong quantitative analytical skills
  • Innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with other departments
  • Proficient with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Proficient with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Familiar with OLAP Cube construction and Multidimensional (MDX) expressions
  • Experience with ITW FEG business and products
  • Must be proactive and display a high level of initiative
  • Ability to listen and accurately interpret and record business needs
  • Ability to look at numbers and reach conclusions regarding the data
  • Understanding of key business metrics, such as, Net Sales, Gross Margin, Profit Margin, Variable Margin, Operating Profit, etc
  • Critical thinking skills to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Ability to understand and foresee implications of new information for current and future problems solving
  • An intellectual curiosity for getting at the underlying story being told within the data
  • Possesses track record of taking complex results and communicating them in an easily understood way
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate actively and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, tools, and techniques
  • Primarily office setting
