There is currently an opportunity for an Automation Engineer, reporting to the Director of Technology. This position will be based out of the Kernersville headquarters.


Responsibilities


·   Develop and implement industrial automation /control systems.


·   Prepare project costs, capital requests and cost justifications.


·   Select and/or work with external contractors in support of assigned projects.


·   Prepare, submit and place equipment and component orders.


·   Integrate systems hardware and software considering safety, performance and reliability.


·   Lead/support technical group in the integration of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and software systems including mechanical components, PLCs, HMIs, vision inspection, OPC server and OPC client and distributive process control systems.


·   Support, participate and perform commissioning duties as needed, including system validation, system training and documentation: drawings CAD (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, 3D, P&ID), manuals, maintenance schedules, standard operating procedures and work instructions.


·   Work with all areas of the organization and site in support of business needs.


·   Provide troubleshooting support of systems as needed.

Job Requirements

·   Associate’s degree in a related engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical, chemical or industrial engineering.


·   Five (5) years of automation experience required.


·   Experience with web handling, ultrasonics, wet processing of synthetic textile, specification and design of machinery for cleanroom operations preferred.


·   Electro-mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical pneumatics, electro mechanical fluid power components, electrical controls, solid-state DC drives and AC inverters, process control modules and programmable logic controllers.


·   Proficiency with CAD programs such as solid works. (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, 3D, P&ID)


·   Proficient with PLC programming.


·   Must be able to work flexible hours.


·   Ability to work well with others in a cross-functional team.


·   Strong communication skills required; both oral and written.


·   Must be able to travel 20% of time.
