Illinois Tool Works (ITW) is a Fortune 200 diversified manufacturing company with seven decentralized business segments, which includes the Food Equipment Group. The Warewash Business Division, one of the businesses within the Food Equipment Group, is seeking an Assistant Controller for its Troy, Ohio facility, located 20 minutes north of the Dayton metropolitan area. 

The Warewash Division is expanding its presence in existing served markets as well as new markets and desires financial talent to support this growth.  The Warewash Business Division produces Hobart brand commercial dishwashers used in hotels, casinos, restaurants, health care, cruise ships, schools and universities and retail.  We are in search of an Assistant Controller to provide information and reports that drive financial decisions for the business.  Review of the annual operating plan and assistance in the preparation of the long-range plan will be a task of this role.

Reporting to the Division Controller, the successful financial candidate will be responsible for handling complex financial analysis, maintaining financial statements/records, preparing P&L statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, assist in the preparation and management of capital appropriation requests and determining/understanding cash flow. 

The Assistant Controller will also be responsible for providing technical accounting advice to functional and/or operational managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports and manage financial responsibilities.  The individual will be an active participant in month-end closing, account analysis and reconciliation of accounts.  Ensuring data integrity and accuracy and managing operational data is essential in this role.

We seek candidates with proven problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.  The successful candidate should also possess solid knowledge of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, auditing functions and work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards. Effective communication skills and proficiency of spreadsheet and database applications are required. 

Job Requirements

The minimum qualifications are:

  • BS Degree in Accounting (Master’s degree in Accounting is a plus)

  • 7-10 years of accounting experience

  • MS Office application proficiency

  • Proficient knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP

  • Preferred qualifications include understanding the ITW toolbox.
