Assistant Controller

Position Location: Gallatin, TN (30 minutes from Nashville TN)

Division Description:
ITW Automotive Fasteners serves all the major OEMs and their tier suppliers with stamped  fasteners totalling approximately $180M in revenue.The division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions, application and process engineering.  In addition to ITW’s industry leading research and development capabilities, ITW NA Fasteners enhance our customers’ competitive advantage by maintaining advanced engineering and manufacturing facilities in North America, exchanging product, process and benchmarking information with sister units worldwide, continually improving processes, and material and designs to ensure every product exceeds customer specifications while providing unparalleled value.

Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will report to the Division Controller and be responsible for forecasting, reporting, and managing a full set of financial statements for ITW CIP, as well as establishing and maintaining accurate and effective financial processes in accordance with ITW policies and US GAAP.  The role will be a key member of the local leadership team and will partner with the Plant Manager and operations team on increasing growth, increasing profitability, and meeting the overall financial plan. This role will be responsible for the talent development & management of the accounts payable/payroll, accounts receivable, cost accounting and staff accounting roles.

Monthly Close & Accounting Oversight (40%) 

  • Execute an effective monthly closing process that ensures that the financial books are stated correctly and reported to division leadership/corporate in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of the accounting staff’s work
  • Ensure compliance with all ITW financial policies, as well as US GAAP
  • Continuously assess the internal control framework around core financial processes and ensure that strong controls, in excess of audit requirements, are maintained
  • Coordinate internal & external audits, as well as other requests from corporate financial reporting or government authorities
  • Perform & oversee the annual standard cost setting process
  • Perform & oversee the annual physical inventory process
Financial Strategy, Analytics, & Operational Partnership (50%) 
  • Own financial statement results & actively works with operations to grow revenue, improve profitability & meet unit objectives
  • Build financial models for forecasting future business results – annual plan (1 year plan), long range forecast (5 year plan), critical month (1 month plan), critical quarter (1 quarter plan)
  • Support projects that require ad hoc financial analysis – be the financial “expert” at the table
  • Support plant manager & leadership team with operational analysis that facilitates accurate decision making and strategy setting for the business unit
  • Provide analytics & execute a process that ensures an effective capital allocation framework for all spending decisions
  • Assess P&L and balance sheet impacts of changes to operations or financial processes throughout the month and adjust estimates when required, communicate changes, & recommend pivots to meet financial commitment
Team Management & Talent Development (10%) 
  • Effectively utilize the team in order to meet unit objectives quickly and accurately and ensure roles are scoped properly and team member capabilities are suited for each role
  • Continuously assess the accounting teams capability and Identify & coach high performing talent. Implement and development plans where required in order to be continuously improving the team’s capability 
Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance required and an MBA in Accounting or Finance is preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required with standard cost setting knowledge
  • CPA or CMA certification preferable
  • Must be able to adhere to deadlines, manage conflicting priorities and work under pressure
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare analysis and forecasts as needed.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and work well within a team
  • Knowledge of PRMS ERP system and Microsoft Office software is highly preferred
