Job Summary 

The Application/Project Engineer develops keen understanding of the company’s product line to become a subject matter expert on their application in the field.  Working as a bridge between customers and engineering teams, Application/Project Engineer uses customer input and sales information to develop solutions for the customers using existing product portfolio while providing technical expertise to customers as required. Application/Project engineer also follows markets trends, identifies salient customer needs and helps drive serial innovation by closely working with new product development team. 

During the bid phase, Application/Project engineer assists the sales team in generating technical and commercial proposals, periodically participating in technical selling activities such as sales presentations and product demonstrations. After an order has been awarded, the Application/Project Engineer provides project management support throughout the project cycle from design through production, continuing into installation and commissioning of equipment in customers’ plants

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of Safety, Wellness and ITW’s Core Values, ensuring proactive practices.
  • Review technical application details provided by sales or customer to identify best suited technical equipment specification
  • Work with the customer to gather all information, requirements and scope as the project moves from concept to quote stage
  • Make necessary engineering calculations to support product selection/recommendation. Prepare technical proposal with pricing using various MS office tools and basic AutoCAD functionality.
  • Responsible for developing and managing the scope, schedule and budget, act as primary Dynatec contact point for customer after sale.
  • Coordinate with global engineering, manufacturing and quality resources to ensure under budget and on time delivery of the project to meet or exceed customer expectations at each project milestone
  • Provide accurate, timely, and effective customer and management communications throughout the execution of projects.
  • Coordinate with customers and technical services group to plan and schedule system installations, start-up, commissioning, validation, and training.
  • Establish personal rapport with potential and actual customers and identify future trends to influence innovation activities conducted by new product development team.


Minimum Requirements

  • Professional Experience

o   Three to five years of experience in mechanical and systems engineering design.

o   Must have strong but tactful influential ability and demonstrate solid skills in communication, interpersonal relations and presentation skills.

o   Strong analytical skills for reviewing project costs and preparing reports.

o   Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.

o   Working knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.

o   Experience in using Microsoft Project as a project management tool preferred.

o   Familiarity with ISO quality requirements and procedures.

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Travel – Must be willilng to travel up to 25%
