Position Summary:

The Application Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through team assignments.

Job Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical knowledge and project engineering support to our sales office to drive project closure and support sales growth.
  • Provide design recommendations, prepare costs standards, develop proposal prints, and facilitate delivery of samples, coordinate testing and reports. Focus should be placed on quality and speed of work.
  • Coordinate all duties needed to validate design projects, included but not limited to providing samples, manufacturing prototypes, testing, vendor coordination and sales presentations.
  • Propose practical and cost effective design configurations to meet customer requirements while maintaining manufacturability and workability. Evaluate alternative ideas to develop the most promising design approach.
  • Translate customer drawings to manufacturing prints; verification of production BOM’s and vender selection.
  • Integration of strategic initiatives and APQP lessons learned into the quotation process.
  • Travel required to customer plants for line walks and product tech days.
  • All other related functions as requested.

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • BSME or equivalent with mechanical design experience handling multiple projects concurrently
  • Efficient CAD Design: 2D-AutoCAD, 3D-SolidWorks
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience dealing with sales and/or customers on a direct basis, preferred but not required
  • Excellent time management, prioritization abilities and strong project management skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel and Microsoft systems (e.g. Word, Outlook)
  • Experience interpreting drawings, pulling specifications and identifying processes or test requirements.
  • Background in metals field manufacturing processes (cold forming, stamping, assembly, heat treatment, plating, inspection etc.) and mechanical testing (tension, torsion, fracture, fatigue); preferred
  • Employee relations: must facilitate good working relationships among office and manufacturing staff

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas
  • Working conditions including normal office setting and manufacturing environment
  • Willing and able to travel; primarily domestic
