Basic Description

The Advanced Welding Process Specialist will be responsible for demonstrating and delivering customer value by successfully introducing emerging welding technology in automated welding applications. This Industrial Platform level resource will play a key role in coordinating the introduction and growth of system technologies incorporating Hobart, MWA, Tregaskiss, and Industrial Equipment solutions for hard and flexible automation customers. This position will work closely with process and product development resources from participating ITW Welding Divisions, as well as marketing personnel who will pursue targeted strategic segment applications for the emerging technologies. This individual will play a key role in sales enablement by optimizing the advanced processes for targeted customers and applications in coordination with appropriate Divisions and field sales teams, to trial and install Advanced Systems that deliver on the system value proposition. This person will work closely with relevant sales management and key account managers that are managing accounts in the segment and will also play a key role in subsequent applications of the technology identified in the Advanced Systems roadmap.

Essential Functions

  • Provide system-level technical process support, and troubleshooting.

  • Work closely with divisional leadership to demonstrate customer value through part trials and system installations, working with others as needed from product management, sales, engineering, R & D, process development, training, service, field support, and operations from Hobart, MWA, Tregaskiss, and Industrial Equipment to ensure successful results at target customer accounts.

  • Work closely with Corporate Account Managers and Process Improvement Specialists in the application of the technologies at key segment accounts.

  • Provide after-sale technical field support for target customers as required.

  • Provide customer training on new technology as required.

  • Participate in further development and testing of advanced welding processes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Welding, or related technical field and relevant work experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of welding processes commonly used in  flexible and hard automation.

  • Previous experience integrating robotic welding systems is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of metal core wire benefits and performance.

  • High personal confidence and ability to be assertive when necessary. Can be direct as well as diplomatic, handle conflict effectively and be able to tactfully say “no.”

  • Technical aptitude and mechanically inclined.

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, high motivation, and solid decision-making abilities.

  • Well organized, aggressive self-starter with the willingness to learn and grow.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to build or leverage existing relationships among employees, distributors, and key end-users.

  • Comfortable presenting and facilitating before groups.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-moving environment that values an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Expected travel is up to 60%.

  • Position is located in Troy, OH.
