North Star Imaging, Inc., an ITW company, is the domestic leading manufacturer of turn-key 2D Digital X-ray and 3D X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) systems for the Industrial Nondestructive Testing industry. As well as the largest X-ray and CT contract services in the US. NSI’s technology is used by many different markets including Medical Devices, Electronics, Aerospace, Military/Defense, Castings, Plastics, Research and more. We also design and develop the software applications used in our systems and have the widest product portfolio range in the industry today, which keeps us way ahead of our competition. Our worldwide headquarters, is located in the city of Rogers, just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota. This facility has approximately 90 highly skilled employees including application specialists, mechanical, electrical and software engineers, programmers, level 3 instructors and others.  The Accounting Manager will drive results by accurately preparing, interpreting and communicating financial information, including data analysis of key business metrics that drive management decisions. This role will also assist in monthly forecasting of revenues, expenses and other financial metrics; and assist in corporate initiatives. This position reports to the Controller.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in management of the accounting department to ensure all day-to-day, month-end and year-end activities and reports are completed timely, accurately and in compliance with ITW policies and GAAP. 

  • Perform supervisory activities including assigning and reviewing work, creating goal alignment, coaching through feedback, development planning and performance management.

  • Ensure documentation and monitoring of internal controls in accordance with ITW policies.

  • Manage and review all internal department procedures to ensure adherence and proper documentation. Apply sound judgement to reduce complexity and work with team to simplify processes, developing more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining high level of accuracy.

  • Help drive accurate forecasting by gathering information from management, sales, and production and provide variance analysis vs. prior forecast, budget, and plan.

  • Provide operational analysis (cost, controls, etc.) to facilitate accurate decisions and strategies.

  • Manage all financial aspects of the inventory including inventory reconciliation, slow & obsolete reporting and inventory management. Measure, monitor and analyze inventory trends, and work with Operations to drive improvement.

  • Support Controller and leadership team to achieve division goals and objectives, including assisting with annual operating plan, long range strategic plans, capital investments and other ad hoc projects.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits as well as other corporate requests. 

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

  • A high energy, driven, intelligent professional with a ‘can-do’ attitude, outstanding written/verbal communication skills and presentation skills, able to present complex information in a simple format.

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to all people at all levels to develop positive and productive peer relationships.

  • Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated accountability for results and understanding of the financial impact of decisions.

  • Prior experience driving business simplification projects and process improvements.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite with highly advanced Excel skills including the ability to create and edit pivots, tables, charts, and graphs. Power BI or database experience highly preferred.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while staying aligned to Division goals.

  • Flexibility in day-to-day tasks of a small office environment.
