Job Description

The Accountant will analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization. The Accountant will be a business partner to all employees across the division and serve as a champion for process improvement to support ITW’s 80/20 business philosophy.

Job Requirements

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

  • Assist in preparation of financial statements, business reports, annual budgets and/or reports required by corporate and/or regulatory agencies.

  • Compute taxes owed, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.

  • Work with multiple general ledger accounts across the division for budget and reconciliation purposes.

  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses.

  • Report to management regarding the various financial factors and results.

  • Assign entries to proper accounts.

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.

  • Develop, implement, modify, and document record keeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.

  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.

  • Manage and coordinate physical inventory count.

  • Maintenance of standard cost and review of month on hand and slow-moving and obsolete inventory.

  • Maintain A/R collection program to ensure past due accounts are within ITW guidelines.

  • Compile data and various reports to assist the controller and other members of management.

  • Prepare various reports for ITW corporate.

  • Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis


  • Minimum 2+ year’s related work experience

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system(s)

  • Audit experience a plus

  • Excellent data entry, organizational, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

  • Ability to be diversified, to multi-task, and to prioritize

  • Excellent communication and people skills including ability to read, write, and communicate using the English language. Spanish a plus.

  • Knowledge of US GAAP reporting requirements and experience in their application

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal tax laws

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills

  • Ability to work in high pressure, short deadline situations

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
