Job Description

Shakeproof Automotive is a $150 million-dollar cold heading division within Illinois Tool Works.
The Senior Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for ensuring accurate preparation of financial reports, review and analyze inventory activity, oversee fixed asset project reporting, and deliver a variety of analytical reports to the Division. The Senior Accountant must be a leader in their function. They must be able to develop structure in their role, provide guidance to the team, and produce results personally and through others. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the month end close process and prepare financial statements (also prepared weekly)
  • Manage all corporate reporting requirements
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accruals
  • Responsible for all cost accounting functions
  • Responsible for understanding, reviewing and managing accuracy of inventory flow in perpetuals and related impact on the financials
  • Daily journal entries for inventory adjustments, scrap and intercompany transfers
  • Prepares and analyzes slow and obsolete inventory report
  • Supervise yearly physical inventory count and implement monthly Cycle count
  • Inventory AP invoice coding and proper cost assignment
  • Responsible for fixed asset project reporting and maintenance
  • Annual tax data reporting to corporate
  • Ad-hoc reporting for controller and division controller
  • Fully understand the General Ledger and Segmentation in Operational Plants

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of 7 years Accounting experience required preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Public accounting / auditing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization ability
