Position: Operations Internship

Since 1965, Valéron Strength Films has specialized in manufacturing high-strength, cross-laminated high-performance plastic films used in challenging applications worldwide. Our films offer high performance in demanding construction, packaging, print media and other strength and specialty film applications.   Valéron Strength Films has production facilities in Houston, Texas and Essen, Belgium and a sales office in Shanghai, China.

Internship Duration:

The selected candidate must be able to work 40 hours (day shift) per week from September 2019 thru 12/1/2019.  This assignment end date has potential to be extended.

Position Summary:

Operations intern will support Houston plastics manufacturing plant by developing tools that can be used to manage inventory, plan capacity and better manage documents. The intern might also be asked to support operational projects on the plant floor to support improved quality, delivery and yields 


  • Completed or nearing completion of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; needed to communication with operations management and plant operations teams.
  • Excellent math skills – capable of translating activities in the plant and modeling them mathematically.
  • Operational knowledge of statistics, capable of analyzing data sets to identify statistically significant variation.
  • Expert level user in Excel, capable of building pivot tables and linked tables.
  • Advanced level user in Access, capable of building queries to build tables used to support operations.
  • Advanced level used of SharePoint, capable of building SP sites to support the operations teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and statistical analysis software.
