Position Summary:

This position will have dual-role responsibilities.  The Product Manager both talks to and listens to the market, leveraging insights to drive action and deliver growth with a key, strategic product line.  The primary responsibility is to manage and refine Industrial Components’ current product portfolio and grow the portfolio through a deep understanding of market problems/pain points. As the Distribution Sales Manager, you will foster and grow the business while working with and managing the distribution sales channels. 

This position is based in Des Plaines, Illinois USA and reports to the Industrial Components’ North American Regional Sales Manager.

Responsibilities:

Product Manager – Snap Action Switches

  • Understand market segmentation, including definition, size, share, and attractiveness.
  • Conduct periodic and comprehensive reviews of assigned product line that result in an assessment of Placement (Distributors), Promotion and Pricing of the current product portfolio.  Plan will include an assessment of profitability and internal needs/gaps to achieve the annual plan.
  • Develop and execute Long Range Plan lifecycle and technology roadmaps to assure full end-to-end alignment of our products to the marketplace.  Set the product vision, define the product strategy and develop a roadmap that meets both company goals and user needs.
  • Define the product benefits and features to our segmented customers and industries, using market research, analysis and VOC to turn insights into customer-facing messaging. 
  • Responsible for all product marketing content.
  • Create Value Proposition Statements and associated marketing tools for existing products by establishing our competitive differentiation and understanding what products our customers want to buy.
  • Manage product enhancements using the APQP process
  • Lead Product Line Simplification activities as part of the road map and recommend product discontinuations and exit/wind-down plans
  • Initiate the timely review of products to ensure they continue to meet Mil-Aero compliance, specs, ITAR requirements, AS9100, etc.

North American Distribution Sales Manager

  • Define and execute the go-to-market and commercialization plans in partnership with ’80’ distributors, including internal and external communication plans and requirements for commercial success.
  • Develop and maintain and maintain relationships with defined Strategic Distributor Partners.   Travel as needed for business reviews and strategic planning meetings.
  • Conduct product trainings at Distributor sites. 
  • Execute marketing programs and materials for introduction of new products or product re-launch.
  • Recommend target products for Distributor website.   Provide technical materials and pictures as needed for website introduction. 
  • Manage and publish Distributor Price Books annually.   Analyze parts for margin and recurring volumes and adjust prices to Corporate goals. 
  • Travel to Distributors’ strategic customers as needed.
  • Process leads from CRM: Salesforce.  
  • Prepare quarterly sales forecast reports. 
  • Study existing and new federal, state, industry legislation and advise management on needed actions (e.g. export compliance; protection of intellectual property). 

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a technically-related field.
  • Five or more years of increasing responsibilities in technical sales or marketing including high-level program management with major revenue or scope of responsibility.
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to manipulate data using Excel
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of electromechanical products and electronic technologies.
  • Financial Acumen: Proven financial experience to analyze financial results, market analytics and new market opportunities.
  • Must be able to foster, communicate and exemplify the values of ITW; act of integrity and trust, operate with simplicity, treat everyone with respect, take shared risk.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including the occasional global travel, up to 25%.

Additional Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Established contacts within Industrial distributors and/or mil-aero industry.
  • Electronic product experience in the mil-aero market space.
  • Thorough understanding of regulations, and policies related to aerospace, military, off-road vehicles, and/or transportation markets.
