Job Description

The Tooling Apprenticeship is designed to give a student the hands-on exposure to assist with modifying, repairing and assisting in the design process for molds. Intern will also learn how to maintain preventive maintenance relative to molds.   

Essential functions:

1)         Performs duties to maintain efficient operation of injection molds.

2)         Repairs molds using a variety of tool shop equipment.

3)         Performs mold preventive maintenance and maintains/tracks records accordingly.

4)         Prepares and stages tools/machinery for shipment out to vendors.

5)         May assist with machining needs for the facility.

6)         Understand and read blueprints related to parts and molds.

7)         Able to use measuring devices to inspect, create and modify molds/fixtures.



Job Requirements



Student in technical college or university, engineering background preferred. Some knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures; good mechanical ability; metrology and blueprint reading skills preferred. Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills

Self-directed and results-oriented. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, along with the ability to be proactive in recognizing improvement opportunities are necessary



1.)  Be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.

2.)  Must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

3.)  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

4.)  Frequently required to stand for long periods of times.
