Testing & Reliability Manager – Food Machines

Hobart is part of the ITW Food Equipment Group, an Illinois Tool Works Fortune 200 business, and is a recognized leader among commercial food equipment worldwide. Hobart Food Machines is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and self-motivated Testing & Reliability Manager.  This position reports to the Quality Manager of Food Machines and is located in Troy, Ohio.

In this role, you will help lead the quality function in defining and implementing the quality strategy. This includes ensuring products and services conform to technical specifications, perform reliably, meet internal and external quality expectations and comply with all levels of relevant standards, regulations, licenses, and certifications. You will help own warranty metrics and accountability to manage costs within business parameters and oversee quality achievement and improvement. You will work closely with R&D, Production, and other Engineering groups to ensure objectives are met. You will plan, implement and maintain quality procedures, programs, and systems that ensure conformance to requirements of all new and existing products.

Responsibilities:

 Lead a team of technicians in coordinating product reliability testing and performance testing for new products and modifications to existing products. Verify that reliability, safety and quality is unaffected

 Support manufacturing with product test procedures, test equipment, and specific quality requirements for product functionality

 Develop programs to identify, target and analyze product failures in order to reduce warranty costs

 Assist in development and maintenance of quality systems, including internal policies & procedures, supplier quality system assessment, and customer interface when required

 Lead the relationship with 3rd party agency listings such as UL, ETL and NSF

 Conducts periodic audits to ensure that procedures are appropriately seated and are being followed

 Respond to new product outsourcing needs, including offshore locations and assure conformance to requirements of existing and new finished product sources

 Interface and coordinate with Marketing, Engineering, Service, Sourcing, and external customers and other functional groups for smooth implementation of quality plans, procedures and requirements for quality assurance organization by resolving quality issues and sustaining customer satisfaction

 Drives and controls warranty cost to meet business needs

 Provide product details for product liability cases

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field

  Experience in developing and leading test protocols in mechanical, electrical and software applications

  A strong background in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems with 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing business

  Ability to effect broad change within the Division

  Effective trainer with demonstrated background using problem solving skills

  Must be an excellent listener and communicator both verbal and written

  The ability to build relationships within the business arena, across the organization, and externally

  Must be a creative thinker, adaptable, flexible, and have a sense of urgency.

  Analytical and problem-solving skills are a must

  Understand and proficient in all computer-related software packages (Microsoft Office, etc.) and additional technologies as appropriate

  Conflict resolutions skills

  Systematically gather information, sort through complex issues, and make timely decisions

  Excellent project management skills with internal and external teams  

  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  Experience with Electrical equipment, including drives preferred

  Experience with Agency project submittal preferred, including UL, ETL, NSF

  Product Liability experience preferred

Other Requirements / Working Conditions

  You will work in a team-oriented office and manufacturing environment.

  Willingness to travel 20-30%

  Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
