Position Overview:

Broadly, the Technical Product Manager will:

  • Become the technical expert to support both internal and external customers inclusive of all technical support functions for the Loma product line (X-Ray, Metal Detection and Checkweighing Systems).
  • Work together with the sales and service channels to effectively promote and grow sales in North America.
  • Identify technical issues, technology updates and general communication with the UK development, technical and manufacturing teams.
  • Be the leader for project management, sales applications, presentations to key accounts, Customer-Back Innovation, and Discovery phase of the stage-gate process.


  • Work closely with the North America Sales Manager, Customer Relationship Manager and/or Business Unit Manager to develop a comprehensive sales, service and technical strategy to achieve annual sales goals.
  • Meet annual sales goals as established by management on all segments of the business.
  • Promote the complete range of Loma equipment via customer demonstrations, site visits and trade shows.
  • Ensure a functional standard of product knowledge by all direct sales staff and manufacturer’s agents.
  • Provide technical sales support for non-standard applications. This includes facilitating customer product testing.
  • Work closely with the Customer Relationship Manager to develop upgrade programs for legacy equipment as well as identify an adequate level of spares and PM programs for non-obsolete equipment; Identify, maintain, and communicate product life cycle events.
  • Work closely with the North America Service Manager to develop product knowledge and technical training for the field service and sales teams.
  • Review proposal requests to determine validity and performance of all Loma’s product offerings.
  • Create and submit to management relevant monthly reports that reflect product activity by region.
  • Manage and oversee the effective communication with the Loma UK Global Product Team relating to new product development, customer product feedback and resolution of application issues.
  • Define new product pricing and communicate data-driven value proposition for new Loma products.
  • Partner with the Marketing Department to create communication tools to share competitive product analysis across the organization.
  • In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by their supervisor that are essentially related to their duties.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in technical field and minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role required. May substitute the educational requirement with minimum 9 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of technical products in the food and pharmaceutical industry required.
  • Experience in Technical Sales, Product Development, Market Development and Industrial capital sales preferred.
  • Proven time management, prioritization abilities and demonstrated strong project management skills.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of food and packaging processes.
  • Knowledge of GMP and HACCP programs.
  • Knowledge of US and Global Food Safety Standards.
  • A proactive and collaborative hands-on attitude to getting things done.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and internal staff.
  • Must be able to travel (up to 50%) in the US and Canadian markets on a regular basis with occasional trips to the UK and CZ.
  • Must be proficient with office software applications.
