Job Description

FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY IN THE Youth Apprenticeship Program.
This individual will be shadowing employees from a variety of roles covering job titles of Machinist, Assembler, Maintenance, Paint Line, and Sheet Metal. Must be a highly motivated team player with an excellent attitude. Must be able to communicate effectively in a fast paced, team environment. Students will learn the daily job functions of the roles previously listed while gaining knowledge and hands on experience. Students will also be assigned a mentor to assist throughout time at Miller.

Job Requirements

Essential Functions:
- Set up and operate machines within the cell
- Know inspection tools and how to use
- Know how to order material and tooling
- Know how to ship material
- Know how to receive orders (Kan Ban, Line Stock, etc.)
- Balance the workload between target inventory and other demands
- Must check daily target inventory levels
- Prioritize workload to meet daily and weekly production goals and order materials
- Participate in Employee Involvement
- Cross-train on multiple job functions
- Work closely with team mates to support each other through communication and moving to the work to maximize efficiency/flow
- Able to troubleshoot and repair production equipment
- Attention to detail, good follow through and effective resolution to problems required
- -Individual must be able to read blueprints and use measuring tools
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicant must be a team player, self-starter, safety conscious, have good communication skills, innovative, mechanically inclined, understanding and be responsible.
- Individual may have to stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly. The applicant must be able to adapt to a fast-pace work environment with minimal training.
