Position Summary:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager reports to the Vice President/General Manager and will be responsible for the development and performance of all procurement activities for the Division.  Total Division direct and indirect spend is approximately $100 Million.


An ideal, qualified Strategic Sourcing Manager will work to lead and support the divisions short and long-term initiatives and ensure our new product development is competitive.  The Strategic Sourcing Manager will also effectively communicate with Suppliers, Engineering, Operations and will ideally have background in procurement and project management. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will have two direct reports.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies strategic partners, leads complex and critical negotiations and delivers improved products and lower costs to the division through supplier management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles.
  • Leverages strong project and change management skills to drive continuous improvement for divisional resin and other major material spend utilizing the ITW sourcing tool box, including 80/20 and quad and quartile analyses.
  • Works closely with Engineering, Commercial, Manufacturing, and Purchasing team to simplify vendor base and material complexity, while also improving leverage with key suppliers.
  • Participates and supports processes to develop divisional annual plans and LRP cost savings targets and strategy.
  • Designs and implements methods for assessing performance of major suppliers, initiates supplier improvement programs, manages and negotiates variations within and outside scope of contracts, and enforces contract remedies.
  • Participate in cross-collaboration with other Divisions and Corporate Strategic Sourcing to increase ITW enterprise wide savings initiatives, establishing division/platform and/or segment strategic purchasing plan with defined measurables/goals and effective communication and reporting.
  • Facilitate, lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) processes to achieve Division’s sourcing saving objectives.
  • Identify, lead and track cost savings opportunities in support of cost savings target
  • Manage sourcing activity coordination and processes for sourcing duties relating to new product development including leading or participating in supplier selection, capability assessment, quality improvement, and supplier readiness.
  • Support to minimize obsolescence during launches, engineering changes and end of production
  • Issue RFQ´s to vendors for competitive quotes for purchased parts, resins, components, tools, outside services and outsourcing molding and / or assembly
  • Negotiates with suppliers to obtain best agreement possible with regards to quantities, delivery, quality, price, terms & conditions, etc
  • Lead the development and maintenance of supplier management process; supplier selection, scorecards and supplier evaluation
  • Helps develop purchasing plans and programs to be implemented in accordance with corporate policies and objectives
  • Act as a central liaison between suppliers, and Body and Fuel division
  • Review of supplier capacity studies and tool tracking sheet
  • Evaluate existing and potential suppliers’ capabilities; recommend and implement changes in supply base and work on supply base consolidation
  • Maintain Approved Supplier List for each commodity
  • Create and maintain supplier and purchasing files
  • Prepare Repetitive purchasing forms for all new parts and cost adjustments for existing parts

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

•     Bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus.

•     Minimum 5 years of broad sourcing leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing organization, across a multi-location, global business.

•     Managed at least $50M in annualized spend in direct material.

•     Strong track record of financial data analysis, budget planning, inventory management, driving procurement strategies and reducing overall material costs.

•     Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working with a remote staff.

•     Continuous improvement through 80/20 analysis of purchasing functions and benefits.

•     Proven results in managing and developing talent.

•     Demonstrated experience managing complexity and change.

•     Willing to travel, domestically and internationally.
