Position Summary:

The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for the day to day operation of the accounting department of a capital equipment manufacturing business selling into the US and Canada. The position holder will be responsible for the application of principles of accounting to maintain the general accounting system, including preparation of reports and statistics reflecting assets, liabilities, financial transactions, earnings, profits, cash balances and other financial results. He or she will also support the BU Controller with analysis, reporting and forecasting as well as provide sound advice and guidance to functional managers within Loma and communicate effectively with third parties.


  • Assist the BU Controller in management of the accounting functions of both, Loma US and Loma Canada, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures. 
  • Support BU Controller and the leadership team to achieve unit goals and objectives. This includes assistance in preparation of the annual operating plan, long range strategic plans and other ad hoc requests and projects at the discretion of the BU Controller.
  • Prepare, examine and analyze accounting records, monthly financial statements and reports with supporting reconciliations. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data in compliance with ITW policies and GAAP.
  • Manage financial and operational aspects of the general ledger and subledgers – AR, AP, Cash, fixed assets, etc.
  • Assist other departments in preparing their input to outlook and budget. Provide other departments ongoing support for prudent financial management.   
  • Provide data to corporate for sales and use, property tax returns, business insurance, Canadian VAT, etc.
  • Prepare accurate monthly sales commissions and supporting documentation as well as serve as back up for payroll processing.
  • Lead the Accounting Team and provide coaching and support where needed.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of IT systems that will provide reliable, accurate and pertinent information for use in planning, analyzing and controlling the business.
  • Keep abreast of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ITW financial policies.    
  • Understand and utilize the ITW toolbox in all aspects of the job including prioritization of work assignments and development of work processes.
  • In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by their supervisor that are essentially related to their duties.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years accounting experience or similar discipline.
  • Detailed knowledge of automated enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Dependable, highly organized, aggressive self-starter with the ability to work independently on projects.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and personal accountability.
  • Must be able to adhere to deadlines, manage conflicting priorities and work under pressure
  • Expert in MS Excel, including data extraction, queries, and pivot tables, and proficient in other MS Office products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect applicable data and perform advanced analysis of data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
