Job Description

This role is responsible for driving strategic and tactical sourcing efforts in a complex supply chain with hundreds of suppliers and thousands of parts spanning across multiple sites.  The North America Sourcing Manager will be accountable for delivering material cost savings through aggressive supplier management as well as regional and global sourcing efforts.  Additionally, this position will be driving continuous improvement activities with our key suppliers and cross functional teams across the business to improve quality, delivery, and innovation.



Responsibilities

  • Analyzes purchasing data regularly to properly determine cost structures, competitive pricing, opportunities for alternative sourcing, and proper safety stock levels.
  • Manages slow and obsolete inventory levels by establishing processes and protocols for global teams to follow. Key player in overall inventory management and counting process.
  • Leads continuous improvement activities related to sourcing across all functions to drive simplicity in the business and enhance the customers‘ experience.
  • Works closely with Engineering and product development in support of New Product launches. Determine appropriate supply base that falls within cost targets and is able to deliver the product on time with high level of quality.
  • Understands and simplifies category management and purchasing process to improve procurement and supply chain efficiency
  • Develops a business purchasing strategy, according to strategic goals and ensures that suppliers are aware of crucial business objectives
  • Selects suppliers who are aligned with business standards to ascertain the best products in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality;
  • Understands supply base capability and ensure proper suppliers are in place to deliver products that meet expectations.
  • Manages risk mitigation (cost, price and/or supply),
  • Leverages organization’s spend by utilizing corporate sourcing teams to drive down cost where possible
  • Analyzes quotes and negotiates prices & delivery conditions with suppliers.
  • Analyzes key part designs including materials, fabrication requirements, tolerances, finishes, availability and other attributes to estimate their total cost.
  • Negotiates and agrees contracts and monitors their progress, checking the quality of service provided; contracts should be standardized in conditions for the whole region
  • Coordinates and supports all sourcing related activities and commitments including the review, negotiation, and acquisition of the targeted spend categories.
  • Forecasts price trends and their impact on future activities;
  • Share best practices across the organization
  • Drives a culture of Safety, Wellness and ITW’s Core Values, ensuring proactive practices.
  • Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.

Job Requirements

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required preferably in material sourcing, procurement, supply chain or engineering

Experience/Skills: 

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to demonstrate (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, sorting, arithmetic formulae)
  • Expertise in Kanban inventory management
  • Must be component completing purchasing and planning functions in ERP systems
  • Proven track record of strong analytical and communication skills
  • Able to effectively drive cross-group collaboration and cooperation, using strong communication, project management, and organizational skills
  • Proven communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic business financials
  • Ability to display innovative thinking, outside-the-box problem solving techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge of Lean concepts or projects based on the 80/20 principle is a plus
